Luca could barely see, his eyes clouded with the fading vision of her in his arms. Paige lay almost lifeless, her blonde dishevelled locks falling over her face, covering her features. Luca was clumsily swiping his palm over her head repeatedly, managing to get a few strands away but he couldn’t really see what he was doing. She lay horizontally across him, wrapped in his dads duffle coat. They shook in the back of the moving car and he held her tight.
“Please don’t leave me.” He sobbed as his tears disappeared on her tanned skin and dampened her hair. She didn’t move. She didn’t speak.

      “What do you think you were doing?” Luca shouted, tugging Paige’s elbow with him.
      “Oh, I’m sorry ‘Dad, I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to have fun.”
      “You call that fun?” He stopped…
